The Atmosphere of the world is vital for life, but fragile and vulnerable like a raw egg. Did you know that you could walk through our global atmosphere within just one working day and without running before you reach the deadly zone of open space? It is our atmosphere that ensures all life on earth.

If you take that as a metaphor and compare it with your company, the atmosphere within your company is crucial for the existence. If your atmosphere is poisoned, all life will die.

Today the atmosphere on earth is perfectly defined by scientists. For example, there is always 20,95% oxygen in the atmosphere, because if not, some balancing events start happening. If there is no oxygen, all life will die as well. On earth it is not the plants and trees producing most of the oxygen, it is a huge amount of alga (called coccolithophores) in the oceans that produce most of the oxygen we breathe. Their unit size is only about 1/4 of the diameter of a human hair.

For a corporation or any other group of people that come together to achieve a common goal, the same basics, procedures and effects apply. It is about the smallest cell in the company that make the oxygen and only when they all do the same, everyone and anything else inside the atmosphere can breathe. As a corporation you just have to provide a healty ocean.

To resume: Not only we have to take care about our global environment to heal the planet, we also need to start very small in our own "atmosphere".  This is why we have developed a "programming language" to define a healthy atmosphere within groups of people that want to achieve something, because only with a common definition of a healthy, shared atmosphere, people can breathe and perform best.

The word "atmosphere" comes from the Ancient Greek ἀτμός (atmos), meaning 'vapour' or 'steam', and σφαῖρα (sphaira), meaning 'ball' or 'sphere'. So you could say it is a closed ball full of steam. Do you see parallels to your company and team?
